I’m Erin and I’m glad you’re here. This is the little space where I share recipes, simple thoughts, and a few of my favorites.
I’m searching for the big stories in the little things. When I write about food, it’s never just about food – what is equally as important as what is on your plate is who is beside you, where you are, and how you got there.
Sharing food is, for me, like confession. With what I make with my hands, I reveal a little bit of my creative spirit. Along with the ingredients in a dish there is some the past, reflections of those who came before me and made me, and a hint of what is to come. You can’t always taste it, but it’s there.
I thrive on sunshine and close relationships. I prefer simplicity and quality in all things, and particularly in the things I surround myself with. I am a military wife, a daughter, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and a friend. I aim to be a lifelong learner, and I always have a book or two in my hand or on my bedside table. I am a list-maker, a goal-setter, and a recovering perfectionist.
When not in the kitchen I’m probably on a long walk along the river, searching for new flavors in another city, writing or trying my hardest to keep my plant collection alive.
New to little dutch wife?
This blog has changed a few times in the last year, first with the design and then with the direction of the content. I strive, however, to always keep my little corner of the world honest and true to life.
Mostly I write about food and the simple details of a simple life. Here are a few of my favorite posts: a recent trip to the thrift store, super-C sorbet, ash wednesday and the beginning of the lenten season, zucchini hummus, growth, curried coconut pumpkin soup, decadent coconut buttercream frosting, number six, sweet potato hash and a story, man salad.
Have any questions? You can contact me through this form or simply leave a comment and I’ll be sure to get back to you.

Erin,
Thank you for your wonderful story in The City Wire on the Literacy Council and Scrabble Wars last week. Although you were working, I still hope that you had some fun.
Thanks,
Bob Schroeder
President Board of Directors, Literacy Council of Benton County
Bob, I had such a wonderful time at the Scrabble Wars, and I’m grateful for everyone’s hospitality and kindness. I hope to see you again soon! Best, Erin
Looks like you travel a lot! How exciting! Love the blog;)
Hi! My name is Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a fitness/diet app and website. I saw your blog today and it captured my interest!
I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in getting 1 for free to review when it is out (negative or positive).
Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker (com) with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.
In case you don’t know, our website SlimKicker basically turns your fitness/diet goals into a level-up RPG game. The tracker will work in conjunction the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.
Anyway, hope to hear back either way…
- Sue

Wonderful, thanks for sharing!
Hi Erin, I mentioned you and your blog in my latest post. It started with Amber from The Usual Bliss and then The Liebster Blog Award was passed on to me from Katie at Brave Juice. You certainly do not have to participate, but I just wanted to honor your blog with this little mention.
If you would like to participate, you just share a post with some interesting tidbits about yourself and pass the award on to a few blogs you love.
Best,
Jane
Thank you, Jane — I’m honored! I’ll be sure to check out your post and keep spreading the love.
